                    Statement of BEN LIAO, Candidate for
                           Governing Board Member
   Occupation: Software Engineer
   Age: 41
   Education and Qualifications:
   Software Engineer at Hewlett-Packard; M.S. Computer Science - Texas A
   & I University
   Educating our children is our community's top priority. As a parent of
   2 children (Christina, a fourth grader at Faria School and Jonathan, a
   sixth grader at Miller Junior High, I have actively involved as a
   volunteer in our School District as:
     * Member of the School Site Council at Faria School since 1991.
     * Budget Chair for Faria SSC since 1995.
     * Apple tutor at Nimitz School.
     * Active volunteer in district wide committee - including member of
       CLIP (Cupertino Local Improvement Panel), Information Task Force
       (to renovate current computer equipment), DATE (Drug And Tobacco
       Education), Successful Measure A School Bond Election.
       
   To maintain the excellence in our School District, I will:
     * Articulate a common vision to build the best environment for
       learning.
     * Implement class size reduction equally throughout the whole
       district.
     * Monitor the spending of measure A funding for school renovation.
     * Set up standard and assessment programs for each grade.
     * Encourage more community and parent participation.
       
   We need to prepare our children to lead in the next century. With your
   help, we can provide the best education for our children. Thank you
