Detailed Biography for Bonnie A. Maybury Okonek

I have a solid public health background with my BA in Biology and MA in Microbiology. I have worked as a clinical laboratory technologist for 11 years, 9 of them as supervisor in a hospital microbiology laboratory. I maintain my California license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist by doing annual continuing education.

I have taught college biology classes for the past 20 years, giving me much experience in working with diverse groups of people. It has also given me practice in both written and oral communications, so that I can listen well and respond intelligently to inquiries.

I have been a director for the Granada Sanitary District for 12 years, serving as board President, Vice President, or Secretary. I am one of two representatives from Granada Sanitary District to the Sewer Authority Mid-Coastside board, a joint powers agency which runs the sewage treatment plant. I have served in this capacity for 8 years, the past 3 as Chairman of the SAM board.
